WEATHER

Peru is one of the countries in the world that has a great climatic diversity, because of a variety of factors, like: the Anticyclone of the South Pacific, the Peruvian Current of Humboldt and the Mountain range of the Andes.

It exist 2 important currents: Humboldt (Antarctic) and “El Niño” (Ecuador), it also exists 2 principal seasons:  the first one is the rainy season and the second one is the dry season. Our Center coast and the arid south, without precipitations, with moderated temperatures, very humid and with high cloudiness 8 of the 12 months of the year, the North coast with slight precipitations in summer, high temperatures and a shiny sun most of the year. A mountain range with seasonal precipitations from December to March, from tempered weather to cold weather, depending on the altitude and with high atmospheric dryness. The South mountain range is the best carrier of cold in the months of June August. A very rainy high forest, with high temperatures, cloudy and very humid and a rainy low forest with very high temperatures.

The winter in the coast lasts from June to September. In this season, the mountainous zones usually have cloudless skies and a sunny weather during the day. At night the temperature goes lower. The rainy season in the mountains and the forest lasts from December to April.

To Peru, by its geographic location, corresponds an eminently tropical weather with abundant precipitations, of high temperatures and exuberant vegetation; nevertheless, this characteristic is affected by the presence of the mountainous system of the Andes that crosses them in a longitudinal sense, and to this fact the Peruvian Current and the Anticyclone of the South Pacific are added, giving rise to a diversified climate.

It is characterized by a dry cold weather of tundra (Black Mountain range), whereas the White Mountain range is located within the weather of high perpetual snow mountain. Crossing over the high summits of the Andes, towards the east is observed another character of the climatic zones, thus in valleys of “Alto Marañón” and “Huallaga” instead of dry steppe weather they have the tempered weather moderate with precipitations in summer, and then the permanently humid climate of tropical forest.
